trouble with contacts on mac

Hey all,

I've been trying to set up my mac so that I can send and receive text
messages on it. I got through that process just fine, but what I can't do is get
any of my iphone contacts onto my mac so that I can compose messages. Can
anyone help? I have all the updated programs, iphone six, macbook pro, if any
of that helps.

I'm gussing you have ICloud syncing contacts, that's how I've usually gotten them on both devices.

I do, but for some reason they don't show up on my mac.
